You can defer your offer for one year in all undergraduate courses except the Bachelor of Creative Arts, Bachelor of Midwifery, Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics or Bachelor of Clinical Sciences/Doctor of Medicine. Restrictions may also apply to deferring courses that will not be offered in the following year.
If you have already completed a topic or topics in your course and wish to take time out from your studies, please refer to the leave of absence information.

Details on the process to defer your offer are available on our website. Here you will find instructions on activating your account and accessing the Student System. Once you have requested to defer your offer, we will send you an email confirming your course deferral. If you do not receive the email, please contact Flinders Connect. If you have accepted your offer, but later decide to defer your place, please submit a support request online via Ask Flinders. Please note, not all courses are deferrable and deferral must be completed prior to the first census date.
International students
If for some reason you are unable to take up an offer to the University at the date specified in the offer letter you may request a deferral of your admission. A deferral form must be completed and submitted to the International Centre for your request to be considered. If deferral is approved, a new offer letter with a new start date will be sent to you. If you defer admission more than once an administrative fee will be charged.
