You may choose to be known by your preferred name at the university, without documentation. See can I be known by my preferred name at Flinders for more information.
If you have changed your gender or the gender recorded in the Student System is incorrect, you will need to provide Flinders Connect staff with one of the following official documents to have these details amended on the Student System:
- a statement from a Registered Medical Practitioner or a Registered Psychologist;
- A current Passport;
- Birth Certificate; or
- Gender Recognition Certificate or recognised details certificate provided by a State or Territory office or Births, Deaths and Marriages.
Gender may be recorded as Intersex / Unspecified where a student identifies as being of either intersex or unspecified gender. The above documents also apply for the recording of Intersex / Unspecified gender in the Student System.
If you need to update your ID card after you have changed your gender on our records, please email a passport style photo (colour photo of your head and shoulders, light background with hats, sunglasses and face coverings removed) to askflinders@flinders.edu.au and we will post a new ID card out to you at no charge. Please ensure your address details are correct in the Student System.
