Please note the information provided below is not relevant to the NS1 and NS2 semesters as they only offer four modules, you can register in the NS semesters as normal.
In Semester 1 and Semester 2, NMCY1001 Academic and Professional Numeracy offers a choice of eight modules (as outlined below). However to complete the topic, you are only required to register in four modules. Before you register in classes it’s important to know which modules you will do so as not to register in too many classes.

If you need help choosing between the eight modules available in Semester 1 or Semester 2 – contact the NMCY1001 Topic Coordinator or seek advice from your Course Coordinator (who may be able to advise if certain modules are more appropriate for your course).

How to register in your chosen NMCY1001 modules:
Each class you select under one of the Module Activities will register you in a set of classes including: 3x 1-hour Lectures weekly and 1x 2-hour Workshop weekly. Each Lecture and Workshop class you register in is held for three weeks only (as shown in the module list above).
  1. Check which Workshop times (2-hour classes) work best in your timetable, aim to select the same Workshop day and time across all (or most) of your chosen modules.
  2. Check the weeks held for the 2-hour Workshop classes, if you have two modules in the same weeks you will need to choose a different Workshop day/time for one of the modules in those weeks.
  3. Register in four sets of classes only, one under each of the Modules you have chosen until you have registered in four sets of classes.

Tips and things to note:
  • Once you’ve registered in four classes no further registration is required. The hourglass for your NMCY1001 timetable will remain as half full  as you only register in four of the activities.
  • Lectures for modules held in the same weeks will not clash as they have different times. If you are needing to clash a Lecture with another topic, recordings of the NMCY1001 Lectures will be available on FLO.
  • When viewing your timetable, please note it defaults to show you all classes in the semester. It’s good practice to check your timetable each week to see which classes are held (depending on the modules selected, there may be weeks with no classes and/or different rooms/times to attend).
